I have an 81 VW Rabbit, with a cabriolet body kit and I am not sure what year or model the engine is. I seem to remember years ago when I bought the car that the seller said it is an 86 Jetta engine. Is there a place on the car that I can find the engine year and model? I need to replace the fuel pump and fuel injector, what year parts do I look for?

Unless I am totally mistaken, look to the engine real close and look for a 17 digit number that is a mixture of numbers and letters. Find any thing like that. They are usually stamped with this as the VIN of the original vehicle.
