I own a porsche 356 speedster 1958 replica since new. It has a 1600 cc VW beetle engine and transmission.
milage 16000 miles
1000 miles ago I exchanged the engine because of no compression in the left rear cylinder.
New motor works perfect / but since 200 miles the second gear pops out. I ajusted the manual gear lever but it still pops out. Even if I hold the stick in 2nd gear it will disengage.

Do I have to exchange the gearbox? :?:

Hi there,

It sound like the reaction ring in the 2nd gear syncro hub has broken, this ring holds pressure on the scyncro dog that locates and holds the syncro on place, the selector detent spring may also be faulty, but you will need to do a full autopsy to find the problem.
