I am the victim of vandalism. the piece that controls my winshield wiper next to the ignition. was broken off as well as the gear shift stick.

Is it possible to get these things repaired. I know who did it and I would rather not press charges for my own personal reasons, but how should I go about doing it cheaply? what sort of mechanic do i seek out?

Any mechanic should be able to help you out. The parts should be available from VW or from a salvage yard. I doubt you will get much help at an auto parts store. Grab a maintenance manual, look at the diagrams and determine exactly what it is you need. Then do some shopping. You can even shop online for the parts. Try a website like car-parts.com once you know the names of the parts you seek.
