97 Passat, 70K, automatic, no prior mechanical problems. Recently replaced the timing/alternator/AC belt and had ATF flush. Two days afterwards, car felt like having parking breaks on when transitioning into 1st gear. Mechanic who replaced the parts said the transmission is shot. Could replacing the parts have affected the transmission or just random coincidence?
