Alright im really excited about this car, the guy has put alot of money in this car and now wants to sell it...this is what it says, "1988 jetta slolom, 2.0 jetta swap, porsche 944 turbo and intercooler, turboxs dual stage boost controler, turbonetics BOV, custom boost piping, lowered, recaro seats and door panels. 5000 with 17" konig wheels, needs cv shafts and a little TLC. built by CWS tuning...... if you send an email it may take a few days to respond". now he said he'll take 4500 including the rims, but what i want to know is..what is a cv shaft and how much are they and how many do i need.... or in another question is this car worth buying? or will i spend to much money giving it "TLC". thanks so so much
and theres a pic of it in.advance:D

With a little google help, you probably figured this out already. This component transfers the power from the transmission to the drive wheels in front. Call a parts store and ask them how much...be prepared for questions that you may not have the answer for. But you have to start somewhere.

If your willing to take the chance of pissing away $4500 that you can afford to lose, figure much more for the TLC, then buy it.

If you value money and you don't want to lose your shorts or learn a brutal lesson, then pass on it or offer what you can afford to lose.

Just my opinion as an older, less excited from mistakes, service writer. That's a lot of bread to lose.

It has 350 HP. Potential. First off it needs driveshafts. No driveshafts=0 hp.

If you were selling a car, wouldn't you get much more for one that could move?

Control the excitement, let logic be your guide.

I'll help you as much as you want, because I don't want you to make the mistake so many folks make when buying there first car. My Dad let me hang myself. It was a good lesson. Mine Had "really cool " rims. And an 8-TRACK PLAYER!

What I recommend is to take a car into a shop and have them look it over for you. I'm not a big fan of buying them over the net, unless there is a specific car that you have to have and are willing to risk buying an unknown commoditiy.

Use www. Kbb. Com for price values. Do your homework!

I took a look and saw several cars that looked good. But I'm not in the market for one and would have different tastes and needs.

What you need to do decide what needs you have, what you want in a car. Slice off a thousand bucks off what you want to spend because it will inevitiably need something what ever it is. When you find her, take it into a shop that would look at it and give their opinion and findings.

And just because you want to spend x amount of dollars doesn't mean that you shouldn't consider much less expensive ones.

There is a 85 caprice in there. Those were good cars. Not sure on the TLC, but it's $250. BArgain? Or Bust?
