I have a 2004 vw touareg. It is the 3.2l model. The milage is 44,000. It has the oil sludge problem. I took it to the dealer and the said that the idealing and the check engine light was from the oil sludge. It is not smoking or knocking and I can not believe their is no way to save the engine. I have taken off the intake and cleaned the head from the sludge, but the idling problem is still there. They say that the new engine would cost 10,000 and I dont have 10 dollars. I think I am going to remove the oil pan and replace the oil pump and oil screens. Can someone please help!

I apologize I did not find your message earlier, the sludge has been caused by using Pennzoil that's what happens if you go to the quick lube places, I wouldn't put Pennzoil in my lawnmower. At any rate, you can clean the engine out by putting automatic transmission fluid ATF in with your motor oil and let it run for a little while and drain it and keep repeating the process, transmission fluid breaks up carbon like sludge, now to address the bad idling, that is probably caused by your EGR valve that is plugged up with carbon remove the EGR and clean it out and then see if it idles any better, let me know what's happening and if I can be of any more assist.
