Mileage 122,000. Just had one of my oxygen sensors replaced last night. Now my factory installed radio reads "SAFE" on the digital screen. Won't scan or work at all. Am loosing my mind as I need my drive time tunes.

Computer has not been reset yet - when this is done will my problem be resolved? Thanks for your input!

Hey mrsjetta,
"safe" on your tune box means the radio has gone into "theft mode" and will occur if there was a battery disconnect, though why the shop would disconn. The battery for an O2 replacement is beyond me. You'll have to call or stop into a local VW dealer with proof of ownership of the car and they can give you the "code" to get the radio back on! Hope this helps!

Regards,

Chris

The same thing happened to our radio, you can simply remove the radio and the code should be on the radio itself. Don't ask me why. But that is where ours was and now it works fine.
