OK. I just purchased a 2003 VW GTI 20th Anniversary Edition today. It has some mods, including a cold air intake. After driving for only a short while, I was in 3rd gear at about 2400 rpm, and I needed to go a bit faster. When i depressed the accelerator, the car accelerated smoothly and then suddenly lurched a bit and felt like it was going to stall. The check engine light turned on. It happened again shortly thereafter and the check engine light began to blink. I parked the car for a while and got back in to drive and it was perfect for about 45 min. I parked, then drove home and it was worse than before. This is my first turbo vehicle, so I don't know a lot about how they work. Please tell me if this is lag, or a clutch, or if something is more serious. Thank you.

If the check engine light came on, it should have stored a trouble code in the PCM. Have it scanned to see what the PCM stored, this will give us a direction to go in
