2002 Volkswagen VW Passat transmission

When is service required on the transmission. We can not find anything in the manual. We were told that no service was needed until 100,000 miles

Some German cars are doing that these days. I wouldnt recommend going 100k without a service. Personally, I would do it at least at 50 and 100 k

Yep, the more you service the transmission the longer it will last. Here is a guide that can help and I have included how to service your transmission i the images below.

Capacities

Planetary gearbox
Type .................... VW ATF

CAUTION:Always check with your parts department for the latest part number information.
Note:Only VW ATF available as a replacement part, can be used in the 01V transmission.

Final drive
Type .................... Gear oil SAE 75W90 (synthetic oil)
