2001 Jetta 1.8T 86k miles, I changed my water pump and something happened that cause the belt to loosen and bent all valves. The repair company wants to change the whole engine. I want them to just change the head, tensione,r and belt. What is the possibility that the cylinders are scored? Which would be the best path for me to choose, change the engine or just the head? Thank you

if the timing belt slipped chances are high that you messed up the engine, cant tell you if you need to replace it you would have to look at the engine and make sure it still meets spec.
