2000 Jetta Cooling fan

Hi, My 2000 jetta has 220,000 miles and is the base model for that year. The engine cooling fan stays on for a long time and even killed my battery.Is there an amount of time in which it should shut down and do you hane any solutions for me to try ? Thanks,Gregg

Yes change the temp sensor! and pray that's it.
