1997 Other Volkswagen Models 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

I have 1997 Volkswagon Cabrio 5 speed I was excelerating from a traffic light and suddenly the transmission went into neutral and now it wont shift into any gear the clutch feels like it is still good but when shifting the gears i hear clicks but it wont go into gear. can you give me an idea what could have happened

it sounds like you're accelerated driving has come to an end, you have broke a front axle, most likely the right side.
