1995 Volkswagen V6 Front Wheel Drive Manual 237000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 1995 VW Passat GLX with 237,000 miles. Two weeks ago I noticed that I had a water pump leakage and have been topping the coolant every ~150 miles. My mechanic estimates it will cost about $550 to replace the pump, serpentine belt, bolts. Problem is I don't want to spend that much on a car that I will be selling shortly.

My question is how much longer might I be able to get by just monitoring the coolant level and refilling as needed? Thanks!

I t depends where its leaking. if it is the mounting gasket that is leaking or from the weep hole, I have seen them go for more than a year. If it is leaking from the shaft, it is clearly a timebomb that can go at any given moment.
