When I first start up my Jetta, my first acceleration will hesitate, then the car will jerk forward (or rev a little before going forward). This almost never happens if I am in reverse. Additionally, this does not happen once I've been driving for more than one minute.

Should I worry about the transmission? What else could be causing this?

Took it to the mechanic who flushed the transmission fluid and changed all the filters. Cost about $250 including labor, rather than the $3500 that a new transmission would have cost.

Haven't had any troubles ever since.
