i need to replace both cv joints and everyone i call says better to replace the whole axel on both sides. i can save $200.00 dollars if i do it myself. How hard is it to do.....it looks like it would be not too bad????

It is not too hard to replace the CV shaft assy, but to replace the joints depends on how hard it is to take them off the shaft.

You need to remove the shafts by removing the main nut, lower ball joints to allow enough clearance to get the joint out of the wheel hub and then get the other end off the trans.
