I had a clutch put in my Vanagon, 3years ago, there is 10,000 miles on it. A month ago it began to mack nose when I would let the clutch out it would stop when the pedal was hlf way up. It didn't make this noes in nuteral. Nore did it always make this noise.
But it sarted to get harder to get in to gear, then it just quit on me couldn't get it in gear the pedal got lose but didn't stay to the floor.
I thout it mite be the throw out bearing but now I am woundering if it could be the clutch master cylinder. Thanig that if it were the bearing it would make noise even in nuteral.

"pedal got loose but didnt stay to the floor"Dont really understand what you mean. With out this info,I would say that the pilot bearing has failed.
