I have a 2009 VW TDI Jetta, I installed a set of 18in after market wheel on this car, in the 8 months that I had the wheels on the car I went through 2 CV Axles on the passenger side. The wheel that I put on the car may have been a little more heavier that the stock ones. Or did it have something to do with the car beening a TDI producing more torch at the front wheels with a little heavier wheel on it?

Thanks

I had the dealership do all of the replacements. Hopefully they checked the motor mounts, I am just confuse on what is going on. The torque is the only differents that I can see from a regular front wheel drive.

Usually bigger/heavier wheels are hard on the wheel bearings, brakes and tie rod ends more than the cv's. It isnt impossible, but it could be the torque. Also check the motor mounts, sometimes a bad mount can cause misalignment on acceleration that will damage the cv joint

Has any one axle lasted longer than the rest? Are they repalcing the cv joints or the entire axle? There may be an issue with the axle if they are doing cv's and it keeps taking one out.

Hey Mike,
Each time its has been the right front. They are telling me that they have replaced the entire axle. This car has 68,000 and this is the 3rd axle that has been in this car on the right side. I bought this car new, I seems to think that the 18in aftermarket wheel was the problem. Thats the only thing that I did different to the car. I switched back to the stock wheels so I guess I will see what happens. Everyone seem to think that I am wrong about this issue but that the only answer I can come up with is the torqe from the engine.

Im thinking more along the lines of the axle alignment in the car from the trans to the spindle. Let me know what happens
