Everytime I stop the car the fuel tank, at the fuel cap area makes a high pitch humming noise, every second or two. Total time till the noise ends is approx: 20minutes. I know it is caused by pressure. I wa wondering if this might be a sign of a bigger problem.

Most likely any fuel tank leakage would be picked up by the Evaporative Emmision system and trigger a Malfunction Indicator Lamp on the dash.
But if you are concerned in any way about your fuel tank, the safe bet is have it looked at.
