Electrical problem
2004 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Long story short. I replaced my water pump on my car. Put everything back together. When I started the car the RED battery light came on. I thought it was the alternator since I noticed months before the lights dimming. So I got a new alternator and replaced it. Still doing the same thing. The alternator is not charging the car. I checked the voltage of the battery and it is draining when the car is on. I tested the cable from the alternator to the negative side of the batter and no .3 volts are coming through. Is there a ground issue? I checked fuses, connections, and such. What else is there?

Need to test for continuity from the charge wire (big wire) on the back of the alt to the Positive battery post to be sure it is good. There are some fuses for the main powers at the battery, check them as well
