When I attempt a repair of the washer pump should I take the reservoir out of the vehicle or is there a way to change the pump with the reservoir in the vehicle. Thanks for your help

You don't have to remove it out of the car. Just remove the wheel splash shield, and you you should be able to twist the pump out of the bottle.
