2001 Volkswagen Jetta Gas Tank Cover?!

My gas tank cover will not open. The switch on the driver side door doesnt work, but the switch next to it that opens the trunk does. Wondering if this is a wiring issue or if there is a fuse for it? Also, how can i manually open the gas tank cover until i get this fixed? At this point I cannot get gas.

there should be a pull tab inside the trunk to manually release the cover
