Air Conditioning problem
2000 Volkswagen Jetta

I have a used climate control unit. I am trying to remove old one. I realize that I must take apart the dash somewhat. But still the console that holds the climate control, the strereo and the drink holder does not come out. It sems to be catching on the bottom somewhere. Is there more I need to take apart, like the section where the gear shift is?

You need to remove the glove box and the trim under the steering wheel. They both overlap with the center console.

Once you get the control head out of the dash you'll need to disconnect the control cables. Take note of where each one goes so the new control head will work properly.
