2000 Volkswagen Jetta Flasher unit

2000 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I am trying to locate the flasher unit in my Jetta in order to replace it. How do I do this?
Please help I'm desperate at this point.

The flasher relay is located behind the lower left side dash panel/knee bar.

Remove the lower dash panel/knee bar to access the flasher relay.
Remove the relay from the electrical connector and replace as necessary.


Hazard Flasher Replacement:

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the knee bolster panel from the underside of the driver's side of the instrument panel.
Grasp and pull the flasher from the connector located near the top of the steering column.

Install a new flasher in the connector.
Install the knee bolster panel.
Connect the negative battery cable.


Turn Signal Flasher Replacement:

Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the upper and lower steering column shrouds.
Pull the flasher from the back of the multi-function switch.


Install a new flasher in the multi-function switch.
Install the column shrouds.
Connect the negative battery cable.
