While driving my 2000 Jetta GLX last night the Generator, Brake, ABS and Anti-Slip regulation indicator lights suddenly came on and all the internal lighting went out. The engine was still running, the headlights remained lit and the radio was still on. The internal lighting came back on but all the indicator lights remained on. Fortunately, I wasn't far from home and arrived without any further incident. This morning I went out to start the car and the Alternator Workshop warning came on as well as the generator light and flashed at me to STOP, which I promptly did.
Just to give a little background info: I recently had the timing belt replaced (it busted on me due to a loose tensioner pin!). Also just got it back from the shop 2 days ago for routine maintenance (just turned 100,000), had some unrelated things replaced and they tested the battery, starter and alternator - all were fine. So here's my question - what the heck is going on with my Jetta?
