Engine Performance problem
2000 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 10000. miles

car runs fine untill i shut it of to fuel it up then i go to start it and i have to hold it to the floor like it is flooded then it will start after thirty seconds of cranking and runs rough untill it clears out.

Thanks for that, as it is the 2 litre petrol engine, i would be wanting to check the fuel pressure first, also when was the filter and the plugs last check or replaced? do you get a check light? i would also do a scan as not all faults will set a MIL, let me know if there are any unresolved fault codes, start here.
