I have a 1999, old body style, Jetta GLX VR6 w/ 2.8L and the speedometer and tachometer does not work most of the time. Could it be a bad relay and how do I check it out?

More than likely its your vehicle speed sensor, but you will wanna check all fuses located near and around the steering column. Is there an engine light on?

The check engine light is on but the auto zone checked it and said the code came up as an O2 sensor needed replacing. Where would I find the speed sensor?

Yes that is probably what is making your engine light come on and it does need to be replaced, but I can assure you that the o2 should not be what is causing the tachometer to go crazy like that, go ahead an replace that o2 and then take it from there

It would be either ontop of the transmission or on the side.
