Transmission problem
1999 Volkswagen Jetta Front Wheel Drive Manual 142000 miles

Got a new clutch put in and it would not shift into 5th gear. After a few days, I was able to shift into 5th gear smoothly, but now after a few weeks, it once again won't shift into 5th gear. Any ideas why?

It sounds like the shift linkage might be hanging up. Check the Joints in the the linkage.
