1996 Volkswagen Jetta 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Cant open the trunk from the outside or the inside. The trunk release button in the console isnt working. Where is the fuse located? Or how can I get the trunk opened? Is there an emergency cable in the trunk i can pull?

the fuses are under the dash closer to the door on the driverside, what is what i dont know i dont have the cover on mine to tell me...my trunk switch dosnt work ether
