1996 Volkswagen Jetta Starting problem

do you have power going to the starter?are there any codes in the central conv. module?

Steve,

I do not have any way to check for any codes in there right now,
I did check and there is voltage at the starter from the positive battery cable, but no voltage on the smaller wire on the starter when the key is turned to the start position

prior to this happening, approximately once a week my son would have this same thing happen where the starter would not turn over at all, and my son would have to get out of the car shut all of the doors and lock it, wait a few seconds and unlock all the doors and he would get in and it would turn over and start like normal
I would have to assume that this is related to it??

Hope this helps?

Tom

Well either you have an ignition switch problem or you have a module problem.
