I'm not sure if my clutch went out or it's just a master cylinder or cable, but I was wondering what it would cost me to replace a clutch in a 1996 Jetta Trek. The clutch didn't show any signs of slippage before breaking down, it just intially stuck to the floor and then became loose. I was unable to get the car into any gears.

Thanks.

Hi there,

This sounds like a failed slave or master cylinder.

Master is about $154. +1.8 Hhs labour
Slave is about $170. + .7 Hrs labour
