Transmission problem
1994 Volkswagen Jetta 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 114k miles

We were told that our Jetta's transmission needs replaced and that it had never been serviced. It loses power after driving it more than 10 miles and the speedometer goes wild. What are your thoughts? thank you for your time.

I can not remember if the 1994 jetta comes equipped with a VSS electronic speedometer, if it does, and the speedometer is not working t will affect the transformation and not allow it to shift properly due to the fact that your transmission is electronic, and the computer does not know when to shift it because it doesn't know how fast you were going.
