how would an oil leak in the car's sump, resulting in complete loss of oil, affect the car's performance; steering and brakes in particular

Hi there,

If you lost all the engine oil the engine would over heat and seized up this would cause the power steering to fail as the pump driven by the engine would stop and the steering would become extremely heavy, as with the brakes, on engine vacuum would cause the booster to stop working and the brakes would still work but the pedal pressure require to stop the car would increase dramatical.
