2000 Volkswagen Golf Adjusting the handbrake

Brakes problem
2000 Volkswagen Golf Front Wheel Drive Manual 270000 miles

I had my rear wheel bearings replaced two days ago and since then my handbrake has been very tight (it bearly pulls up one notch) causing some kind of tension on the rear wheel. It makes "breaking screetching sounds" even if i'm not applying the brakes. Please help?!?!
Is the problem with the handbrake as i suspect, or what should i do?

Hi there,

You should take the car back as they have over adjusted the park brake, they should re adjust this for no cost and while you wait.
