1997 Volkswagen Golf Manual 100000 miles

have got a 1997 golf when the car is idle at lights ex the revs go up and down on its own, not allot , but it's annoying, any help would be appreciated

Inspect and test the throttle control valve module,throttle position sensor and clean the mass air flow sensor with an approved cleaner.
