My Golf turns over and almost starts. The speedometer needle moves up to about 5 to 10
mile an hour, without the car moving. I have good spark at the distributor, and spark plugs. There is a
sensor that is shutting off the gas? I have replaced the timing belt, which was ok before, and the Mass
Air Sensor? Still will not start. Do you have any more
suggestions before I take it in?

Let me know
Thanks

What liter engine?

IF you advance the timing at the distributer will it start at all?

Have heard of bad distributers on these even though you have good spark. I am not saying that is your problem, but if it does start like this, the probablity went up.

Are there any codes in the computer?

Yes, the code is 341 which is the TDC camshaft sensor. But, on the 2.0 there is no camshaft sensor?
I guess it could be the Hall's Effect? But, I have checked the spark and it looked good? I guess that
I need to replace the distributor or the HE sensor?
Is there a test that I can run to verify the distributor
problem?

Let me know
Thanks

This was a no start first? Or no start after the timing belt?

If before.

Try advancing the distributer.

IF after, recheck your timing marks, if good,

Try advancing the distributer.

We can go from there.
