1996 Volkswagen Golf 4 cyl Manual 60000 miles

engine idles and splutters and cuts out when i go through water or puddle needs to be jump started with leads or left for hour or so and spayed with wd40 usually starts does not happen in cold or dry weather

Probably ignition wires.
