1994 Volkswagen Golf timing

Had new cambelt fitted but after around forty miles of travelling it jumps a tooth and runs rough

Sounds like a problem with the tensioner or one of the idler bearings might be worn. When doing t-belts it is a good idea to replace all bearings in there to prevent having to go back in.
