2006 Volkswagen GLI left hand outboard cv boot replacement

found a cut in my outboard cv boot removed all neesary items to get access to the cv joint on the drivers side. i have the boot removed and can not take the outer housing off ( which in the new kit has a clip that needs to be removed. i was wondering how do you removed the clip or take the outer housing off to put the new cv boot on. thanks

There are a number of special tools required to do this job, you will not get it off with out them, you will have to take the shaft to a dealer or a drive shaft specialist to remove the outer CV, although one article does say that you can strike the outer hub with a soft hammer as this may knock the hub back enough to compress the "C" clip that holds the hub on the shaft.
