I had the same problem once in a 92 wolfsburg fox of mine. Kept getting worse and worse The way they are placed in the car by the front seats allows for change from your pockets or other dirt an such to fall inside. Simply get a pair of needle nose pliers or slim medical hemostats and feel around in there. You will be supprised at how much dirt or coins it can hold. I found close to $3 in change in mine.
