1999 Volkswagen Eurovan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 155k miles

the armrest adjustments (screws under ends of rests) don't engage the screw shaft and maintain the armrest position. is there an easy fix?

I am very sorry………the manual we have doesn’t show this.
