1989 Volkswagen Cabriolet transmission fluid dark

I recently had my transmission fluid changed. One month later, i had my oil changed and the mechanic discovered that my transmission fluid is dark again, with fine metal shavings in it. The transmission seems to be operating just fine- no noises or malfunction.
