2002 Volkswagen Beetle Trunk Won't Close

The trunk on my 2002 VW Turbo Beetle was acting up several times by not closing. I would have to take my key and manually open the trunk and then close it. When I put my key into the trunk lock and turned it counter clockwise and clockwise it would make a noise. Well now my trunk will not close at all. I have tried putting my key into the trunk lock and turning it as before but it will only turn counter clockwise. It will not even try to turn clockwise. I really need to get this fixed. Do you know of a way to do this or do you think something like this would be covered under warranty?
