2000 Volkswagen Beetle Engine Size unknown Wheel Drive Type unknown Manual 73 miles

I brought the car on the 29th March yesterday.Today when ive gone out for a drive ive noticed my light is on for the exhaust emission. I really dont know if i should b driving it or is it dangerous or not. any help or ideas

First thing you need to do is have the codes read, Autozone does it free, Post the results with the code number(s). Even if the service engine light is not on, there should be freeze frame data stored.
