2000 Volkswagen Beetle Manual

The air bag light is on but I don't think the car has been damaged. Do these cars have any history of this being a problem. How do I diagnose this problem best?

No specific issues that I have seen. You will need to have the system scanned for the trouble code.Even if you fix it yourself, you will have to clear the code with a scanner after the repair, they wont clear themselves for safety reasons.
