1999 Volkswagen Beetle Turning the crankshaft

Is it even possible to manually turn the crankshaft on a 1999 Volkwagen Beetle? We keep trying and it wont turn no matter how much pressure we apply. Im afraid it might be seized up.

yes. I do it all the time. You have to use a long extension, with a socket, and a ratchet. you have to do it through the pass. side fender well. Is there something wrong with your vehicle?
