Electrical problem
1999 Volkswagen Beetle 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 100k miles

My girlfriend has a 99' VW Beetle that she's currently being told she needs to replace her speed sensor in it. They are quoting her for $300+ and after a little looking around I saw that I could buy the part for at most 25% of that cost. I was wondering if you need any special tools to replace this or if I can just take it off and put a new one on, bam the end.

yes just disconnect and unbolt speed sensor. your vehicle speed sensor (VSS) is located either at the rear of the transmission or in the area of the left-hand drive shaft flange on manual and automatic gearbox vehicles.
