1999 Volkswagen Beetle bank 1 fuel leak

local mechanic identified "bank 1 fuel leak" due to engine light being on. Have driven car with this problem and seems to function well. Question is can car be taken on long trip scheduled for this friday 9/5 and put off repair for about 2 weeks? It is impossible to get repair work done before Friday. If this is a safety issue, would consider using a rental car for trip. Have not noticed any visible leak under car.

Bk 1 fuel leak or lean? If lean which is what I suspect it is, then you may or may not be ok to drive it.Could be a weak fuel pump or vacuum leak or possibly a Mass AIrflow Meter, 2 of which could potentially leave you stranded if they short out.(fuel pump, MAF)
