1974 Volkswagen Beetle 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I bought a 1974 VW beetle. While on the way home with it, on the freeway, i was driving about 55-60 mph and starting loosing power like it was running out of gas and would die. any thoughts would be helpful

Check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge designed for your fuel system if okay start testing the ignition system
