Can you advise how to change out an exhaust on a 1971 VW Beetle. Purchased new exhaust kit and want to replace the old exhaust.

What did you get with the kit? Was it the muffler and pipes or is it one part. Comming off the motor where the muffler is attached it is held on by two bolts on each side. Remove them and put the new muffler on. If you are replacing the whole thing then you will need to get under the car to disconnect the exhaust. I don't know if you replace the whole thing if the heater boxes will work. If they have to come off then you will have no heat.

Ok its a straight muffler change. Look at the big end has two bolt holes on each side. They connect to the exhaust. It is pretty straight forward exchange. The tail pipes go in appox1 to 2 inches in the muffler and are held on by the clamps. Something like a chrome end people put on there cars, but yours cut down the exhaust noise. You do have to do it with the back of the car jacked up a bit. Remember everything is metric.
