My '67 Bug always starts on the first crank in the morning or when ever it's been sitting for a few hours and then it runs great until I turn the motor off to do some shopping. Once I get back and try to go it just won't fire up...it cranks and sounds like it's about to start but just doesn't get there. After I let it sit for a few hours, presto, it starts and I'm off again. Seems to be an overheating issue but I just can't figure out why. It's a stock 1500cc, single port, stock carb, has all the cooling tin, new engine seal...the only thing not stock is an aftermarket aircleaner (still trying to find an original '67 oil-bath air cleaner). I love this old car but I just can't rely on it to re-start after I drive it somewhere. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
